The Reason You Don't Listen To Your Gut (and what to do about it)

57. Rebuilding your intuition requires one key ingredient.

[Leadership GPS]

You don’t need to be more intuitive.

You need to stop ignoring the intuition you already have.

At least, that’s what Rachael and I uncovered in this episode.

The Unobstructed Podcast: Episode 11

Rachael and I stumbled into a super interesting conversation. We talked about the very real gap that appears between when your gut speaks up and when you actually listen to it.

This is especially true in digital spaces where things like tone, timing, and context get scrambled.

When you start asking yourself, “wait did I miss something? This feels off…”

That’s a good time to listen closer, not shush yourself.

Here’s some of what we dig into:

  • How overperformers justify staying in bad situations.

  • How fake niceness messes with your decision-making.

  • The difference between being “nice” and being “clear”.

  • Why remote work makes it harder to trust your instincts.

Like most episodes, this one blends personal stories with a bit of a systems audit. Rachael and I both found we’d been taught to explain away our instincts in favor of being agreeable or professional (yuck).

Clear = kind.

When someone’s tone doesn’t match their words, your nervous system knows before your brain does.

Give it a listen.

You can also get it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music. And if it hits—pass it to someone who might need it, too.

onward.
